IT Support in Raumati

Onsite computer help across Raumati Beach and Raumati South.

We help people in Raumati with the everyday things that stop working: computers that have slowed to a crawl, Wi-Fi that will not reach the back of a long section, printers that drop off after a router change, and outdoor gear that has quietly corroded in the salt air. We come to you, sort it out, and explain what went wrong in plain English.

Slow computers • Wi-Fi coverage • Salt-damaged gear • Printers • Holiday homes

Computer being repaired at a Raumati Beach home

Computer Repairs & Upgrades

Slow startup, freezing, overheating or a machine that will not boot at all. We carry out onsite computer repairs throughout Raumati, along with SSD and memory upgrades that bring an otherwise healthy machine back up to speed rather than replacing it. Most jobs are done on your kitchen table without the computer leaving the house.

Wi-Fi coverage being tested along a long Raumati section

Wi-Fi That Reaches the Whole Section

Raumati sections tend to be long and narrow, and the router almost always ends up at the wrong end of them. We measure where the signal actually falls away, then fix it properly with a second access point, a wired link or a mesh setup. See Wi-Fi and Starlink setup for how we approach coverage.

Outdoor aerial and camera equipment affected by coastal salt air

Outdoor Gear & Coastal Damage

Anything mounted outside within a few hundred metres of the beach lives a hard life. Aerial connectors corrode, camera housings lose their seals and outdoor access points fail early. We diagnose whether a fault is genuinely electronic or simply weather, and replace what has gone with gear rated to survive where it is mounted.

Working Across Raumati: What We Get Called Out For

Most Raumati callouts fall into a handful of recurring shapes. Some are ordinary computer faults. A good number turn out to be about the sea, the age of the house, or a section that is simply longer than one router can cover. These are the ones that come up week after week.

  • Coastal Salt & Outdoor Equipment

Corroded connectors, perished seals and early failures on aerials, satellite gear, outdoor cameras and external access points. We replace like for like with weather-rated parts and mount them out of the spray.

  • Wi-Fi Through Older Beach Houses

Many Raumati homes started life as baches. Scrim, lath and foil-backed insulation block Wi-Fi far more than modern framing, so we place hardware around the construction instead of fighting it.

  • Holiday Homes & Part-Time Occupancy

If the house sits empty for stretches, we set things up so it is still working when you arrive, including remote checks, cameras and heating or lighting controls that do not need you on site.

  • Slow Computers & Performance

Machines that have gradually become unreliable, freeze during normal use or take minutes to start. We deal with the storage, software and configuration causes rather than just clearing a few files.

  • Printers, Email & Everyday Setup

Printers that stop working after a password or router change, email accounts that will not sync, and devices that suddenly refuse to talk to each other.

  • New Devices & Data Transfers

Setting up a new computer, phone or tablet and moving everything across, including photos, documents, email and saved passwords, with nothing left behind.

Working Across Raumati

Raumati is two quite different places to work in. Down at Raumati Beach the sections are long and narrow, the houses are close to the sea, and a good deal of what we get called out for is not really a computer fault at all. Salt air is hard on anything mounted outside. Aerial connectors green up, the seals on outdoor camera housings perish after a few summers, and external access points fail years earlier than the same unit would inland. Once you know that is the pattern, the fix is usually mounting position and weather-rated hardware rather than another replacement of the same part.

Raumati South climbs away from the beach towards the escarpment, and the ground stops being flat. That matters for anything depending on line of sight, and it means two houses on the same street can have very different experiences of the same provider. It is worth measuring rather than assuming.

The housing stock is the other thing that shapes the work here. A lot of Raumati homes began as baches and were extended or converted into permanent houses over the years. Scrim and lath, foil-backed insulation and layers of later renovation all block Wi-Fi considerably more than modern framing does, which is why a single router supplied by an internet company so often covers the front of the house and nothing else. We would rather place a second access point in the right spot than sell anyone a faster plan that will not help.

Being close to base in Paraparaumu, Raumati callouts are usually quick to arrange, often the same day.

Raumati Questions

Do you cover Raumati South and Paekākāriki?

Yes. Raumati Beach, Raumati South and Paekākāriki are all inside our standard Kāpiti Coast service area, with travel charged at $30. Raumati is one of the closest parts of our patch, so it is usually quick to get to.

My outdoor aerial and camera keep failing. Is that the salt air?

Very often, yes. Within a few hundred metres of the beach the connectors corrode and the weather seals on outdoor housings perish much faster than the manufacturer expects. We check whether the unit itself has actually failed, then remount it somewhere more sheltered and use weather-rated parts so you are not replacing it again in two summers.

The Wi-Fi will not reach the sleepout at the back of the section.

That is the single most common call we get in Raumati. Long narrow sections put the router at one end and the sleepout at the other, and a plug-in extender halfway usually makes things worse rather than better. A properly placed second access point, ideally with a cable or a dedicated wireless link back to the router, solves it for good.
